Location Settings

ABCProxy allows you to select specific regions for your proxy IPs, which affects the username format in the generated proxy list. The location settings determine how your proxy authentication username is structured.

How Location Settings Affect IP Format

When you select different location options, the system automatically generates usernames with specific prefixes that indicate the region. This helps you identify and manage proxies from different locations.

Username Format Structure

The username format follows this pattern:

user-{username}-region-{country}-st-{state}-city-{city}

Location Selection Options

1. Country Selection

  • Format: user-{username}-region-{country}
  • Example: user-john-region-US
  • Description: When you select only a country, the username includes the country code

2. Country + State Selection

  • Format: user-{username}-region-{country}-st-{state}
  • Example: user-john-region-US-st-California
  • Description: Adding a state includes the state abbreviation in the username

3. Country + State + City Selection

  • Format: user-{username}-region-{country}-st-{state}-city-{city}
  • Example: user-john-region-US-st-California-city-LosAngeles
  • Description: Full location selection includes country, state, and city in the username

Examples

Example 1: US Proxy Selection

Country: United States
State: California
City: Los Angeles

Generated Username: user-john-region-US-st-California-city-LosAngeles

Example 2: UK Proxy Selection

Country: United Kingdom
State: (Not selected)
City: London

Generated Username: user-john-region-UK-city-London

Example 3: Germany Proxy Selection

Country: Germany
State: (Not selected)
City: (Not selected)

Generated Username: user-john-region-DE

Location Selection Process

Step 1: Select Country

  1. Choose your target country from the dropdown list
  2. The username will automatically include -region-{country}

Step 2: Select State (Optional)

  1. If available, select a specific state/province
  2. The username will include -st-{state}

Step 3: Select City (Optional)

  1. If available, select a specific city
  2. The username will include -city-{city}

Benefits of Location-Based Usernames

Easy Identification

  • Quickly identify which region each proxy belongs to
  • Organize proxies by location for different use cases
  • Track proxy usage by geographic region

Better Management

  • Group proxies by location for specific projects
  • Monitor performance by region
  • Optimize proxy selection based on target audience

Compliance and Testing

  • Test region-specific content and services
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations
  • Verify geo-targeted advertising

Important Notes

Location Availability

  • Not all countries have state/province options
  • City selection may be limited in some regions
  • Some locations may have restricted proxy availability

Username Length

  • Longer usernames are generated for more specific locations
  • Ensure your applications can handle the username length
  • Consider using shorter base usernames for complex locations

Format Consistency

  • The format is consistent across all location selections
  • Special characters in location names are handled automatically
  • Spaces and special characters are removed or replaced

Best Practices

  1. Start with Country: Always select a country first
  2. Be Specific: Use state and city when available for better targeting
  3. Test Usernames: Verify that your applications can handle the generated usernames
  4. Document Locations: Keep track of which locations you're using for different projects

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

Username too long:

  • Use shorter base usernames
  • Consider selecting fewer location options
  • Check your application's username length limits

Location not available:

  • Try selecting a different country or region
  • Contact support for location availability
  • Use a broader location selection

Format issues:

  • Ensure you're using the latest version of the platform
  • Check that all location selections are valid
  • Contact support if format appears incorrect
